Besides one meeting a month, are there other opportunities to network? There are committee meetings, community service projects, and informal social gatherings. Keep in mind that active participation is the key to networking. What is networking? Gaining friendships and building trust is successful networking. Results are what bosses expect. Those of us who are most satisfied with membership will admit that EWI brings results. What can one expect of membership in EWI? "The caliber of EWI members is truly impressive. They are professional and always willing to support each other. With EWI, we can count on a strong network representing a diverse range of businesses. The mutual support and collaboration among EWI member firms ultimately benefit our individual companies and the community. Without a doubt, membership in EWI is a great investment." Gordon H. Ito, President and CEO Pearl City Nursing Home What is the process to become a member? EWI is unique in that the company, not the individual, holds the non-compete membership. A prospective company shall be approved by the Board and the Chapter. A written posting is sent to the membership, which includes firm name, firm classification (minor/major), number of years in business, number of employees, name of executive, name of representative, and other pertinent information, if known. If no written objections are received from an executive of a company member firm within ten days, the prospective member firm is contacted. How much time will I have to commit as a representative if I join EWI? The time involved depends a great deal for each representative. Meetings are held on the second Wednesday of each month, except the first Wednesday in December, and committees normally meet once a month. To really benefit from your membership, you will find it important to establish relationships with other representatives through participation in philanthropic events, lunch bunches, and informal gatherings. How many Chapters and Member Firms are in EWI? There are approximately 75 Chapters and 3,000 Member Firms throughout the United States, Canada, and Europe. What are the benefits of membership? Being more tied into our community, developing business contacts that eventually lead to personal networking and development, providing opportunities for community service projects. What are the main service projects of the Honolulu Chapter?
